Seeds of SUCCESS:
The Power of Sharing

My heart was truly warmed the other day as I observed two of my youngest grandchildren playing with each other. The two had their own way of communicating, one in his two-year-old chatter of barely discernible words and phrases, the other babbling and cooing her cute little baby sounds of delight. It was amazing to see how the older one was gladly sharing his toys with his little sister, and every once in awhile, one or the other of them would pause to give the other a hug. Their peaceful and joyful play caused me to think how much more a spirit of sharing is needed in our world today.

Especially at Christmas time, we are often reminded of the need to give to others in need. It’s generally pretty easy to give if we feel we have much to give, but have you ever noticed how when things are tight that it’s a little harder to share with others? I love the story in the Bible where Jesus tells about the widow who in sharing her last pennies gave up more then the rich man. What a lesson for all of us to remember. I believe that most of us want to be givers, but may need a nudge every now and then to remind us that sharing with others is a healthy thing for us to do. It is good for our heart and soul when we respond to the need of someone less fortunate by our sharing what we have with them.

This holiday season let’s discover the power of sharing. Won’t you join me in finding creative ways to share with those in need? The needs are overwhelming; however, if each one of us shares what we have with at least one other, it can truly be a merry Christmas for everyone.

After all, if even little ones can learn to share, we too can discover the power of sharing!
