Dear Mom,
It is not very often that I write you a letter, Mom, and then on top of it, to have the letter get published for all to read and see. Mom, millions will celebrate a special day this month, but I thought I would dedicate this entire month and this month’s edition of The Prairie Beacon to you, Ramona Prentice.
I must admit, Mom, I know where my creative abilities have come from. I remember how you kept our home as I was growing up. All of your creative touches are still fresh in my mind decades later. You mended my shirts and sewed on a creative touch, or made dessert with a little something special added. I remember working in the garden with you picking raspberries or digging up potatoes, and today I don’t have to wonder where my green thumb came from.
We sure ate well while living in your home. You have always been one terrific cook! You required me, along with the rest of us kids, to learn and work hard, and we have done our best with what you have taught us, and hopefully have grown up to make you proud. Thanks, Mom for teaching me so much about life.
Mom, I am sure glad you live close by. I really enjoyed the last visit that we had. It was really fun talking about computers and to find we have grown to have so many common interests.
I guess what I am trying to say, is I am glad you’re my mom, and I hope you have a very happy Mother’s Day. In fact, I hope your whole month is just as extra special as you are. Even though I don’t always get it said, I think you are an awesome mom, and a good friend, as well. Be sure to let me know if you ever need anything. I am only a phone call (or an e-mail) away.
Love from your son,
Bobby
