The other day, my wife announced that she wanted to go hunting with me. It was a beautiful autumn day and she wanted to get out of the house to enjoy it. Of course, I was more than thrilled, figuring I could really show her why I love hunting pheasants so much. "What's more," I thought, "what an incredible way to take her on a date!" After walking through fields and sloughs, she informed me that she thought this was really a great way to clear your head and get some exercise, too. Instead of being tired, she felt totally invigorated. I knew what she meant.
Yes, the birds are tougher to find this year, but I tell you this... I had the most incredible day that day and I was filled with an attitude of gratitude! It was truly a beautiful day in every way-spending precious time with my wife, exercise, fresh air, and to top it off, I got my limit, which was really like the frosting on the cake. You know, it really is taking time to notice and enjoy the simple things in life that make all the difference in living. Listening to the geese honking their way south, as the wind blows through the tall grasses, seeing that huge buck running from the slough, the sight of a pheasant rooster rising off the prairie, or breathing in the fragrant scent of autumn, causes me to have an attitude of gratitude. How about you?
Let me encourage you to slow down and stop for just a minute-or maybe you need to take a half a day or more-to take in the beauty of nature. What an awesome gift we have been given. Let's also thank the One who has given us this gift. That too, only takes a minute or so. Be refreshed and be challenged to live life to the fullest for none of us ever knows when our last breath will occur. I choose to live everyday with an Attitude of Gratitude. How about you?
