Mom and Dad raised us kids on a farm where, among many things, I was taught the principle of sowing and reaping. Once I had left the farm, remembering this principle, I tried to plant little seeds of encouragement, seeds of happiness, seeds of success, and seeds of a positive attitude as often as I could. The result has been a harvest of very special and dear friends, a harvest of hundreds of corporate and business clients, and of course this has allowed me to accomplish many, many goals in my personal and professional life.
In my training seminars several years ago I started handing out brightly colored little pom-poms. I called them 'warm fuzzies' and people just loved them. To date I have given out thousands of these warm fuzzy 'seeds'.
One of my favorite things to do is to give a warm fuzzy, along with a smile and a word of encouragement, to someone who seems to be having a difficult day. I enjoy watching for their reaction to this little gift. Actually 99.9% of the time the response is very positive to these warm fuzzies.
Of course, while having these warm fuzzies to hand out is fun, and sure to get a smile or a chuckle from the recipient, you don't need to go out and buy some pom-poms to do what I do. Just keep your eyes and ears open for opportunties to do or say something that will brighten someone's day. Even a gesture as simple as a hug, a gentle touch, calling a person by name, or offering to hold the door for someone can makes a person's daynot to mention, it will make you feel pretty good, too. Remember, what goes around comes around!
