From the Desk of Bob

I just finished the best week I have had in a long, long time. Things are really looking up. I hope your week is absolutely awesome. I am reminded that our circumstances will either make us or break us. I choose not to be broken.

My personal commitment themes this week...

              Take ACTION and BECOME

            Stamp out PROCRASTINATION

                       No EXCUSES

Give 'em a try. I know that there will be so many benefits to this personal mindset. Make these attitudes habit.

Cheers! Bob

Seeds of Success: No Excuses

By Robert A. Prentice

I make excuses to and for myself way to often. I am sure we all make justifications for our decisions, thoughts, actions, or lack of action on occasion and from time to time. We all need to take more responsibility for our actions and decisions.

Making excuses is something that I am not very proud of and then admitting it here today is doubly tough. This attitude of No Excuses, is easier said than done. I do not know about you but I have been known to give myself a lot of breaks. Cutting myself some slack so to speak. Some people might say I am pretty hard on myself and others would say I do not know how to say NO to myself. Note: This is some very honest introspective thinking that is spilling out of my head onto these pages today. Nevertheless, I believe I am on a roll.

In my heart of hearts, and from the deepest part of my being I hunger for wonderful and positive things in life. We all want great things to happen in our lives. We also should all remember that there is "no osmosis". Things do not just happen by osmosis. Plus, I do not believe in luck.

If we want change in our life we need to find within ourselves that key, or switch to turn on that new way of thinking, so that we can tackle and start taking action on the personal commitments and public commitments that we have.

Oh, I should mention sometimes we just get a "hard whack" on the side of the head. This whacking I know happens, from personal experience, more than once. I call it going to school. It is usually about something different each time. It gets my attention every time.

On the Sunny Side of Life: Give Me A Break!

One night many years ago I was on patrol and observed a vehicle blow through a red light at a major intersection. There had been plenty of time to stop, yet the vehicle had not even slowed down. I stopped the car and asked the young female driver why she had done that. The girl told me she had just had her brakes repaired, it had been very expensive, and she DIDN'T WANT TO WEAR THEM DOWN!

Usually I give people a pass if I haven't heard their excuse before, but in this case she got the ticket.
