From the Desk of Bob
I am fighting a pretty tough cold today. I have been reminded that our health is so vital for positive and successful living. A person just does not appreciate the good things until they are absent from our lives. I am planning on much rest and lots of fluids for the next few days. Where is the Kleenex box?
In the meantime, I am revisiting one of my favorite articles that I wrote in years past. I hope you enjoy and benefit from the words written.
May you enjoy great health and success this week.
Recovering, Bob

Seeds of Success: True Leadership
By Robert A. Prentice
We live in a day and age when the world seems to be crying out for true leaders. Our society needs men and women who carry a vision for a healthy and positive tomorrow. Not just anyone can be a leader. There are a number of characteristics that I have observed and discovered over the years that I would like to share with you today. The following are just a few of the traits and signs that I feel characterizes a true leader. See if you see yourself in these statements anywhere.
A true leader is one who:
· has, at one time or another, been a follower.
· works at developing their personal leadership skills.
· loves to plan the work and work the plan.
· does not criticize, condemn, or complain.
· enlists the willing cooperation of people.
· overcomes the adversities and negatives of life.
· is humble and sincere.
· possess high morals and attitudes of integrity.
· empowers people.
· encourages others.
· taps his/her own creative potential and that of others.
· turns negatives into positives.
· loves life.
· models leadership by example.
· does not lord their authority or power over others, because their desire is to serve others, not to be served.
Of course, the list could go on and on. The point I desire to make is simply this: Not just anybody can be a leader. You must decide and be willing to lift up the people around you. How about you-are you a true leader?
"Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions." -Harold S. Geneen
On the Sunny Side of Life
Now that we have had the first snow of the new winter season I thought this might be a good idea...
Skiers' Checklist
Ski season is here. The following is a list of exercises is to help you prepare:
Soak your gloves in water and store them in the freezer after every use.
Fasten a small, wide rubber band around the top half of your head before you go to bed each night.
If you wear glasses, begin wearing them with glue smeared on the lenses.
Throw away a hundred dollar bill - now.
Find the nearest ice rink and walk across the ice 20 times in your ski boots carrying two pairs of skis, accessory bag and poles. Pretend you are looking for your car.
Sporadically drop things.
Place a small but angular pebble in your shoes, line them with crushed ice, and then tighten a C-clamp around your toes.
Buy a new pair of gloves and immediately throw one away.
Secure one of your ankles to a bedpost and ask a friend to run into you at high speed.
Go to McDonald's and insist on paying $8.50 for a hamburger. Be sure you are in the longest line.
Clip a lift ticket to the zipper of your jacket and ride a motorcycle fast enough to make the ticket lacerate your face.
Drive slowly for five hours - anywhere - as long as it's in a snowstorm and you're following an 18-wheeler.
Fill a blender with ice, hit the pulse button and let the spray blast your face. Leave the ice on your face until it melts. Let it drip into your clothes.
Dress up in as many clothes as you can and then proceed to take them off because you have to go to the bathroom.
Slam your thumb in a car door. Don't go see a doctor.
Repeat all of the above every Saturday and Sunday until it's time for the real thing.
