Life Attitudes
Lucius Annaeus: "Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning."
Sheila Graham: "You can have anything you want if you want it desperately enough. You must want it with an inner exuberance that erupts through the skin and joins the energy that created the world."
Frank Lloyd Wright: "The thing always happens that you really believe in; and the belief in a thing makes it happen."
Seeds of Success: A Powerful Proven Principle
By Robert A. Prentice
"Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire, sincerely believe, and enthusiastically act upon... must inevitably come to pass!" -Paul J. Meyer
I really love this quote! It has permeated my thoughts and actions for over twenty years and has truly challenged me to live a life full of good things. Let's break it down.
Whatever you vividly imagine - We were each given a special gift at birth and that was the gift of imagination. Think of the wonderful imaginations of Walt Disney and the creation of the Mickey Mouse empire. It has touched all of our lives. How about the imagination of Bill Gates? Or how about Michelangelo and the Sistine Chapel? I have always been amazed at the imaginations of Michael Faraday, Issac Newton, and Thomas Edison, scientist/inventors whose imaginative creativity has enhanced our lives in so many ways. Wow! Imagine being able to see into the unknown and capturing the vision. Now that's imagination!
Ardently desire - This is desire from the heart not just the mind. Your heart's desire is much more long term than something you desire in your mind. I know I ardently desire a great relationship with my dear wife of thirty years and that ardent desire motivates me to work consistently and tenaciously at our relationship.
Sincerely believe - A belief and conviction in something is where our mindsets are established. These beliefs help us persevere through the difficult times. What we sincerely believe is deep seated in the human mind-a conviction that does not waver but remains steadfast in our thinking.
And enthusiastically act upon - It is one thing to think about something, yet entirely another to take action on that idea with enthusiasm. Having that spark that lights the fire that boils the steam that motivates action-now that is how things get done!
Must inevitably come to pass - We cannot all be a Michelangelo or a Bill Gates, but we all have the same ability to succeed in life. Nothing happens by osmosis-and so it is with success-but whenever we have the desire and belief to enthusiastically act on something we have imagined, it can and will become a reality.
So what are you waiting for? Get out those vivid imaginations, dust off your ardent desire, polish your sincere belief and move into enthusiastic action-and I can just about guarantee you will see the fulfillment of your dreams!
How about you? Are you working on your attitude everyday from the moment that you wake up? Remember that today is a new day and you can start fresh. Do not let anything get in the way of spoiling your day. Complete the work you must do. Focus on what is right and good. Overcome the challenges in such a manner that other people will be amazed and dazzled. And when challenges come your way, before reacting in frustration, determine how you can best respond to the challenge or issue with an attitude of grace.
Plan your strategy to implement grace into the situation; process it again to make sure you are thinking correctly; then move forward conveying your thoughts, ideas, comments and suggestions in order to help set the tone for those who are obviously needing a bit of an attitude adjustment. Remember reacting with kindness and grace-even when you are under fire-will impact your relationships in a most positive manner.
On the Sunny Side of Life
A police officer in a small town stopped a motorist who was speeding down Main Street.
"But officer," the man began, "I can explain."
"Quiet!" snapped the officer. "I'm going to let you spend the night in jail until the chief gets back."
"But, officer, I just wanted to say,"
"And I said be quiet! You're going to jail!"
A few hours later the officer looked in on his prisoner and said, "Lucky for you, the chief's at his daughter's wedding. He'll be in a good mood when he gets back."
"Don't count on it," answered the guy in the cell. "I'm the groom."
