From the Desk of Bob

Greetings!

Recently, I was reflecting on some of my favorite aspects of my career and with all of the wonderful opportunities that I have in my business. I have discovered that giving "keynotes" is something I really love to do. In fact, after delivering a couple of hundred of them over the course of my professional career, there is no question this is the most favorite aspect of my professional life.

Please let me know if you hear of any opportunities where a group or an association that you may be a part of needs a keynote speaker or a trainer for one or more of their break- out sessions at their conference. I am able to customize my motivational talk to their theme and tie them all together for incredible success. I have been doing this successfully for over twenty years. Please help spread the word for me.

I also humbly share that I have spoken in most every industry so have no fear of speaking to any group anywhere at anytime.

I should also mention that when I am not writing, I am speaking somewhere, and if I am not writing and speaking somewhere I am thinking about what I am going to write and speak about. Life is very good.

Have a great week! Bob

This week's "E" word: Edify
verb [trans.]: instruct or improve someone morally or intellectually.

Life Attitudes

Joseph Badaracco:
"In today's environment, hoarding knowledge ultimately erodes your power. If you know something very important, the way to get power is by actually sharing it."

Margaret Fuller:
"If you have knowledge, let others light their candles in it."

Steve Pavlina:
"Passion and purpose go hand in hand. When you discover your purpose, you will normally find it's something you're tremendously passionate about."

Seeds of Success: Speak Up!

By Robert A. Prentice

What are you passionate about? My guess is that you have invested hundreds-possibly thousands-of hours on research on some subject of study that you have a real passion for. Maybe your passion is photography or design or farming or publishing or gardening or art or music or games or computers or cars or any of a million other interesting topics. The important thing is that you identify what it is that you are passionate about.

Once you have identified your passion, you should consider sharing your love of the subject with others, for I can almost guarantee that there is someone somewhere who needs to hear from you. You cannot imagine how much you may impact someone in the most positive and powerful manner when you seize the opportunity to speak up and share about something you really know.

Today I am throwing down a challenge for you, and that is to speak up about your thoughts, beliefs and convictions that spring forth out of your passions. How about sharing a lesson you have learned that has dramatically changed your life? Or maybe a goal or dream you once had and how you attained your heart's desire.

Not sure how to go about it? Begin by jotting down some thoughts, being as specific as you can. Then add to this draft some examples and consider finding some analogies to share that will help people absorb and adopt the information and understand exactly what you are sharing. Simply tell the story, because everyone loves a story and we all have the capability to tell one.

The overall objective is for people, once they read or hear your story, to take ownership of your information and adapt it to their personal goals, dreams and desires. The consistent application of the principles that they have adopted will change their life.

Yes, you can have a positive impact on the world around you. What are you waiting for? Today is the day to speak up. Stand firm and be bold. Be confident in your thoughts and attitudes.

I honestly believe everyone has a story to tell. Tell it. Speak up!

On the Sunny Side of Life

A young couple was delighted when their long wait to adopt a baby came to an end. The adoption center called and told them that they had a wonderful Russian baby boy, and the couple took him without hesitation.

On the way home from the adoption center, they stopped by the local college so they each could enroll in night courses. After they filled out the forms, the registration clerk inquired, "What ever possessed you to study Russian?"

The couple said proudly, "We just adopted a Russian baby, and in a year or so he'll start to talk. We just want to be able to understand him."
