New Year and New Beginnings! I hope your 2009 is off to a roaring start. I know that mine is going fast and fabulous. Thank you and welcome to all of our new readers joining us. It is wonderful to have you on board.
This year I am scheduling a pretty good number of public webinars via the internet. These sessions are for anyone who is interested in personal and professional growth. I am working very hard at keeping the prices low so that anyone can justify a session or two, to sharpen their axe. Please feel free to suggest topics that you would like to participate in, as up to this point I have been pulling them out of thin air and guessing what people may want. Take a look at my website and if you see a topic that interests you, please let me know and I will put it in the plan.
Have a terrific week! Bob
This week's "E" word: Energize
verb: Give vitality and enthusiasm to: People were energized by his ideas. Supply energy to something.
Life Attitudes
Ken Keyes: "A loving person lives in a loving world. A hostile person lives in a hostile world: everyone you meet is your mirror."
Robert Louis Stevenson: "Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant."
Jim Rohn: "Success is neither magical nor mysterious. Success is the natural consequence of consistently applying the basic fundamentals."
Seeds of Success: Back to the Basics
By Robert A. Prentice
Looking ahead into this year I can see great things for my life, family and business. I believe everyone can and should think this way, in spite of the fact that we are up against some pretty difficult circumstances and situations these days. Face it, there are plenty of things over which we have little or no control, but come what may, there is still one thing we have absolute 100% control over-that is our attitude and the way that we think and how we see things. Yes, I know this sounds pretty basic, but basic is where I am at right now. In fact, I am working diligently at getting back to the basics in every aspect of my life.
Let's quickly review the basics of getting back to the basics. We will do that by asking some questions:
In your work, are you striving to be more efficient and effective in the use of time, money, and resources? Are you getting the most out of every dollar and every minute? Is your work area well organized? Are you attending to the little details before they become huge challenges? Is your car clean and organized? You never know when you are going to take the boss or a client for a ride somewhere-and making good impressions are so important.
How about planning? Are you planning things and writing them down? How about selling? Do you see yourself as a sales person? You should, everyone is in sales! How about thinking? Are you taking negatives and finding creative and innovative way to solve these challenges? Okay, how about delegation? Are you releasing opportunities to others so that they can learn and grow?
Are your relationships growing stronger and healthier? Are you treating others with kindness and respect? Are you encouraging others rather than criticizing, condemning and complaining? Are people more important to you than things? Are you taking time to invest in the most important relationship of all-the one with your Maker?
One more question: How's your attitude? Could it use a little adjustment? (Okay, so that's two questions!) Remember, you don't always get to choose your circumstances but you can always choose your attitude in the midst of those circumstances.
Take some time to ask yourself these thought-provoking questions and take action wherever necessary. Get back to the basics and you will enjoy a happier, more productive, and more profitable year than you ever dreamed possible.
On the Sunny Side of Life
A real-estate agent was driving around with a new trainee when she spotted a charming little farmhouse with a hand-lettered: "For Sale" sign out front.
After briskly introducing herself and her associate to the startled occupant, the agent cruised from room to room, opening closets and cupboards, testing faucets and pointing out where a "new light fixture here and a little paint there" would help.
Pleased with her assertiveness, the woman was hopeful that the owner would offer her the listing.
"Ma'am," the man said, "I appreciate the home-improvement tips and all, but I think you read my sign wrong. It says, "HORSE for sale."
