From the Desk of Bob
Greetings from the Prairies of South Dakota!
I expect you are off and running this week! We must operate much like the lion and the gazelle in the great African Plains. Each day the gazelle awakes it must out run the fastest lion. Each day the lion awakes in must out run the swiftest gazelle. One thing is for sure, whether it be the lion or the gazelle, they are both up and running.
So what ever you are chasing this week. Run after it. Chase after it with a passion.
Success is an attitude! Bob.
Life Attitudes
Alan Watts: "This is the real secret of life - to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play."
Robert Fulghum: "Be aware of wonder. Live a balanced life -
learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing
and dance and play and work every day some."
"Henry Jackson Vandyke, Jr.: "Be glad of life because it gives you the chance to love and to work and to play and to look at the stars."
Seeds of Success: Passionate Living
By Robert A. Prentice
The title of this article may be a bit deceiving, however this is not some hot and steamy article this week, but actually quite a tame one-as I challenge you to chase after your passions. What really turns you on? There I go again. Maybe I should put it this way: What is it that really gets you fired up? What are your true ambitions and passions? If you're not sure, I would encourage you to pause and invest some time today thinking about that very thing. Don't live your life drifting back and forth yet, not really grasping a hold of something that really rings your bell.
What is "passionate" living you may ask? Well, we know it's not working day after day simply for the paycheck, all the while detesting every minute of the process, is it? It's not just monotonously going through the motions waiting for things to get better, easier, more to our liking.
Passionate living, in my humble opinion, is waking up every morning and doing exactly as you wish. It is going from morning until night living out your heart's desire. Now before you jump to any conclusions let me say that I am not advocating that you take no thought for living life thoughtfully, purposefully and responsibly. Neither am I talking about living selfishly. No, passionate living is choosing to live your life in such a way that it is hard to know the difference between your work and your play. It is choosing to do your best and be your best in all areas of life. Passionate living is an attitude!
Is your work your play and your play your work? I know mine is. Here are a few suggestions to get you on the road to more passionate living:
· Learn something new about a subject that you have always wanted to study, and discover the joy of discovery.
· Turn off the news for a couple of days and spend that time reading, watching or listening to something uplifting.
· Find a couple of new things to do with your time that can bring you and others around you more joy this week.
· Play a game with someone-a child or an adult-it matters not. There's nothing like a little friendly competition to spice things up a bit.
· Take a nap and wake up with a renewed spirit.
· Make some cookies to share with others.
· Give one of your most treasured items to someone who will truly value it.
· Shut off all technology for one day.
· Kiss and hug someone close. Whoops, there I go again!
Here are some of the areas of my life that I am passionate about, not in any particular order: writing, speaking, candle making, gardening, yard care, barter and trade, publishing, technology, the telephone, family, friends, grandchildren, building my business, and helping others build their business. These are just a few of my passions, off the top of my head.
I urge you to get your list started today and start living a life full of passion right now. Give yourself a reason to get up and running every morning and choose to live your life so passionately that you can hardly tell whether you are working or playing.
On the Sunny Side of Life: A TURTLE STORY
A little turtle begins to climb a tree very slowly. After long hours of effort, he reaches the top, jumps into the air waving his front legs, until he crashes heavily into the ground with a hard knock on his shell. After recovering his consciousness, he starts to climb the tree again, jumps again, and knocks to the ground heavily again. The little turtle persisted again and again while a couple of birds, sitting at the edge of a branch watched the turtle with pain. Suddenly the female bird says to the male, "Hey dear, I think it is time to tell our little turtle he's adopted."

A MASTER IN THE ART OF LIVING
A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction
between work and play, labor and leisure, mind and body, education and recreation.
I hardly know which is which.
I simply pursue my vision of excellence through whatever
I am doing and leave others
to determine whether I am
working or playing.
To me, I always seem to be
doing both.
