From the Desk of Bob

Greetings from the Prairies of South Dakota!

My wife and I absolutely love living here in this great state in the middle of this great nation. Yes, times are tough here, and I imagine that wherever you live you are facing some of the same challenges that we are here.

As you well know, we do not always get to choose our circumstances, but we can always choose our attitude! That's why we are so determined to persevere in these difficult times. In fact, our goal is to not merely survive but to actually thrive in the months ahead. We press on toward the goal, believing that we have the tenacity, courage, and fortitude it takes to make it happen.

My encouragement to you today-whatever difficulty you may be facing-is to press on!

To Our Mutual Success! Bob.

Life Attitudes

Jim Ryan: "Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going."

Dale Carnegie: "Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all."

William James: "Most people never run far enough on their first wind to find out they've got a second. Give your dreams all you've got and you'll be amazed at the energy that comes out of you."

Harry Emerson Fosdick: "No horse gets anywhere until he is harnessed. No stream or gas drives anything until it is confined. No Niagara is ever turned into light and power until it is tunneled. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined."

Seeds of Success: Press On!

By Robert A. Prentice

Ever notice how hard it is to have a positive attitude when times are tough and things are going badly? And yet, it is those very times-like now when the economy has taken such a serious downturn that affects us all in one way or another-that we really need to maintain a positive attitude. This is not the time to give in to fear and discouragement.

People who know me expect me to keep a positive attitude during these negative times-and I can understand that perspective. I expect the same for myself.  After all, I am "Mr. Attitude", right? Generally, I am quite optimistic about business and the future of our country, but in all honesty, it has been very hard for me to remain positive these days. In fact, the economy has created major doses of negative stress for us lately, and in talking with others in business, I realize I am not alone. It seems this crisis has paralyzed some and has literally frightened others to tears.

In these frustrating times, managing our anxiety and stress is paramount. Here is what I keep telling myself everyday to help me to maintain the right kind of attitude: This too shall pass. Stay focused on your priorities and obligations. Complete all projects to 100% total satisfaction.

Look for new opportunities in everything, every day. Be alert and awake. (This is not a time to relax and rest on your laurels.) Be as creative and innovative as possible in selling your ideas and processing the work that you have to do.

Most importantly, I tell myself as often as necessary to "press on" to great things each day. When I press on and persevere I know I can succeed against all odds. I predict that it is not going to be easy to weather this storm, but with prayer, perseverance and pressing on all things are possible.

On the Sunny Side of Life: ALMOST AS GOOD AS YOUR DOG?

If you can start the day without caffeine

If you can get going without pep pills

If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains

If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles

If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it

If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time

If you can overlook it when those you love take it out on you when, through no fault of yours,        something goes wrong

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment

If you can ignore a friend's limited education and      never correct him

If you can resist treating a rich friend better than a poor friend

If you can face the world without lies and deceit

If you can conquer tension without medical help

If you can relax without liquor

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs

If you can say honestly that deep in your heart you have no prejudice against creed, color religion or politics -

Then, my friend, you are almost as good as your dog!
