From the Desk of Bob
Happy Monday!
Our mission with Monday Morning Motivations is to challenge you and encourage you to be the best that you can be in all of life's responsibilities. We hope that you take the principles, ideas, attitudes, thoughts, and lessons learned here in MMM and apply them with enthusiasm to your everyday life. This consistent application ultimately should save you on the headaches, heartaches, pain, time, negative stress and maybe even help you save a little money. Not bad for a free publication.
We also hope to inspire you to reach for new heights, expand out of your comfort zones, and take risks, that are well thought out, planned and executed. People tell us that this weekly e-newsletter is their safety net. Some say that it is the first thing they read as they start their new week.
How and why do we do this? Publishing MMM each week forces us to make right choices and decisions every day so that we have a story to tell. We also believe that by telling our story, and being an "open book" that you will trust more, learn more, live more and succeed to a much higher level in your journey.
Vicki and I challenge ourselves to live life with our priorities in line. We challenge ourselves to build healthy, positive relationships, and seek to restore and rebuild broken ones from the past. We challenge ourselves to take the negatives that come our way and find creative and innovative ways to cause a positive outcome. This is our mission and our passion. Thank you for being such an intimate part of our lives. We cherish you our readers.
You may also want to consider subscribing to The Prairie Beacon. This monthly little paper we publish is jam-packed full of positive and thought provoking attitudes. We have a two-year subscription special going on right now. Find out more information at www.prairiebeacon.com!
Enthusiastically! Bob
Life Attitudes
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe: "Let everyone sweep in front of his own door, and the whole world will be clean."
George Bernard Shaw: "Better keep yourself clean and bright. You are the window through which you must see the world."
Dr. Laurence J. Peter: "If a cluttered desk is the sign of a cluttered mind, what is the significance of a clean desk?"
Seeds of Success: Clean Up Your Act
By Robert A. Prentice
The other day I invested an entire morning in cleaning and organizing my office. It had been quite awhile since I had done that and so it really needed to be done! When I was all done it looked so good-and I really felt good too. Cleaning is not a normal activity for me, I admit-not that I am sloppy or anything. It's just that I am usually so busy doing other things that some of these heavier cleaning and organizing duties fall by the wayside. Can anyone relate with that?
I keep telling myself that I must clean up my act. Take action and you become! is my mantra
That same day, I went from cleaning up my office to cleaning out my car; from there I cleaned my shop, and then my brief case and then my computer files and the time flew by. I have never felt so organized in my life!
I am on top of the world! And-whew-such relief! Sometimes I think it would just be easier to delegate this function of cleaning to my assistants, but then I think, "No, I made the messes and I should clean them up." I know the key is in keeping things organized and clean and maintaining that commitment on a daily basis. It is my choice and I know that I can do this because I have done it before.
Speaking of cleaning up messes, why not take the time to clean the clutter and the junk that floats around in our heads too? Here are some of the things that routinely need to get cleaned out of our heads:
· Negative Thoughts
· Worries
· Bad Attitudes
· Fears
· Negative Paradigms
· Nonsense
· Myths
Are any of these holding you back from the success that you desire? If they are, then get busy and start scrubbing that negative self-talk out. It is truly the dirt and grime that resides in the recesses of our mind that steal our joy. And when you are through cleaning up your act, don't forget to fill you mind with lots of good positive thoughts and attitudes. Take action and become!
On the Sunny Side of Life: THIS IS AN EMERGENCY
These are supposedly actual 911 emergency phone calls.
Dispatcher: "9-1-1 What is the nature of your emergency?"
Caller: "I'm trying to reach nine eleven but my phone doesn't have an eleven on it."
Dispatcher: "This is nine eleven."
Caller: "I thought you just said it was nine-one-one."
Dispatcher: "Yes, ma'am, nine-one-one and nine-eleven are the same thing."
Caller: "Honey, I may be old, but I'm not stupid."
*****
Dispatcher: "9-1-1 What is the nature of your emergency?"
Caller: "Yeah, I'm having trouble breathing. I'm all out of breath. I think I'm going to pass out."
Dispatcher: "Sir, where are you calling from?"
Caller: "I'm at a pay phone. North and Foster."
Dispatcher: "Sir, an ambulance is on the way. Are you an asthmatic?"
Caller: "No."
Dispatcher: "What were you doing before you started having trouble breathing?"
Caller: "Running from the police."
