From the Desk of Bob

Over the next several weeks I want to dig into the wonderful subject of productivity. With everyone so maxed out these days it seems to be a fitting topic. Let me know if you have any great productivity ideas and I will share them with others.

Have a great week! Bob

Seeds of Success: Maximize Productivity

By Robert A. Prentice

I love getting up early in the morning before anyone else gets out of bed. These moments by myself are exhilarating and refreshing. I seek out and find the most positive and healthy things to do in the first few waking moments of my day. This lays a solid foundation for my fresh starts and new beginnings.

We all want to get more done with less time and energy. It would also be wonderful if the journey would be pleasant and enjoyable as we pursue our goals, dreams and desires. Problems, breakdowns, glitches and challenges along the way are just a fact of life. One thing for sure, if we pour some of our energies into maximizing productivity we will never lose.

Here are some tips for getting more excited about productivity:

Check your email less than five times per day. Every two to three hours is more than plenty. If you are struggling with checking more often, this is a sign that you are out of balance.

Release opportunities to an assistant, perhaps one of your children. Even a ten or twelve year old can do tasks for you –which teaches them responsibility–and the more they learn the more that can do for you.

Hire someone as a temporary helper.

Barter with someone, your time for their time. This activity will help them some and have them help you. This is a form of synergy.

Finish a project. Do not start and stop so much. Bring something to a conclusion. Success begets success in this process. You will find yourself bringing more things to a conclusion and it will fuel the fire to greater productivity.

Jot down the top ten things you want to accomplish in your personal life.

Jot down the top ten things you want to accomplish in your professional life.

Clean your desk office off. Wipe it clean. While you are at it, wipe off your computer screen, too. Put one project in the center of your desk and tackle it. Do not walk away until it is completed.

Go on a quick walk and get some fresh air to clear your mind between projects and allow for the creative thinking process to be renewed.

Productivity is a process. There are no quick fixes. Take the steps today to gain greater control in your life. This will help reduce negative stress and anxiety. Over the next year you will be amazed at what you are accomplishing in your life.

MMM Reader's Feedback (a.k.a. Warm Fuzzies!)

Bob,

I have been receiving Monday Morning Motivations for about a year.  I enjoy it each and every week.  I have used some of your words of wisdom for situations with my employees.  Thank you for this wonderful service.  You are a true inspiration.

Bob,
I receive MMM every week and find it very encouraging.  I have been receiving your newsletters since October 06.  As far as improving them, I can't think of anything.  There have been times when I would like to have asked a question but thought you are probably a very busy man and wouldn't have time to reply.  But they are encouraging, keep up the good work.  Thank you.

Melanie
