From the Desk of Bob
The clock on the wall is ticking at a frenzied pace. Everyone keeps telling me that, for them, time seems to be going quicker and quicker. We all "time-shifted" again this past weekend, pushing our clocks ahead one hour-or springing ahead-as they say. I can't help but wonder if the days will even go faster now that the days are getting longer.
This got me thinking. Obviously, we cannot store up time like other things in life such as money, food, and inventory. When time is gone, it is gone. Period. We are left only with the memories of time.
Yes, time passes by us all too quickly, but in my humble opinion, when you maximize time, you maximize your life.
Have a great week! Bob

Seeds of Success: Blocking Time
By Robert A. Prentice
A couple of weeks ago a friend sent me an e-mail telling me how he wanted to start "blocking" his time more effectively. I agreed that this is a wonderful idea for anyone who wants to live a richer, fuller and happier life. I was so impressed with my friend's comment that it got me thinking. I wondered if I, too, have gotten a bit off track in my own time management. Have I been block timing most effectively? This was certainly well worth some analysis and review.
Once I confirmed in my own mind that this area of my life could stand some improvement, I took immediate actionthis is always a great idea for improving organization and time management in life, since procrastination gets you nowhere fastand set my course for change.
Immediately, I began, with a fervor and passion, the process of gaining greater control and effectiveness in my life by doing some block timing. I started by taking several post-it notes and defining the things that I wanted and needed to accomplish in the upcoming week, writing in big bold caps one task on each note and noting how much time would be devoted to accomplishing each task. I color coded the priorities with blue, red, green and yellow post it notes for the different aspects of my life such as family, relationships, and the many personal and business responsibilities I have.
I then arranged each note on the desk in front of me in columns designated for each day of the week and placed the items I wanted to complete right away in one of the first three time slots on Monday and Tuesday. I continued this process of arranging my week, prioritizing as I went along.
When finished, I was able to pick up the stack of notes, already in chronological order and ready to implement, and go on to have the most productive week I have had in a long time. It was fun-sort of like putting a puzzle together-and all the information on the post it notes was easily transferred to my computer calendar. The whole thing, from start to finish, took me about a half hour at the most, and I was completely organized!
We all can get overwhelmed with the business of living from time to time, and when we do, it's a perfect opportunity to implement some blocking methods in one, two or three hour/half day and full day units of time. What a wonderful way to make time work for us and not against us.
In the business world, time is money- and the clock is ticking! So don't lose another precious minute due to your current state of disorganization and poor time management. Start blocking time now!
