From the Desk of Bob

Brrrr! All I can say is this icy chill is for the birds–I mean penguins. I gotta believe that spring is just around the corner. I guess I better not put my earmuffs away just yet. I’ll just put an extra log on the fire and sip on a toasty cup of hot chocolate and I will be fine for sure.

I am so glad that Monday is here. I know that I am looking forward to a great week. I trust that your week will be highly profitable in whatever endeavors, goals, and plans you have made or are making to maximize your life.

To your SUCCESS! Bob

Seeds of Success: Get A Grip

By Robert A. Prentice

Sometimes when the wind is blowing fiercely as I am driving down the highway, I find I must really hold tight to the steering wheel. I feel the wind whip and churn me about on the road and often feel like I could easily lose control. This of course would not be a very pleasant thing.

Life in general has sometimes treated me the same way, blowing me here and there, and sometimes even blowing me off course. When I recognize this is happening, I first of all tell myself to correct my course of action, then I get a grip, hunker down, and press on.

Making the decision to get back on course is much more difficult if my priorities are out of whack; however, when my priorities are correct it actually is quite simple. Now getting a grip on things is another matter. Usually when the pressure is on I am working up a sweat; can anyone relate? Pressure can be good for all of us. Many good things come from pressure. For instance, we all know that from a lump of coal under pressure the diamond is formed. So when under pressure, wipe your hands off, dust your self off, pick yourself back up and determine to press on no matter what.

We have to occasionally shake things off from the past to get a grip. Old habits, behaviors and attitudes most often need to be shaken off to get a better grip. Then you are ready to hold tight and to press on to achieve your goal so you can arrive at your destination. The trip is bound to be bumpy, and sometimes we will get blown off track. But what matters most is that we are able to get back on the road to success, as we correct our course of action, hang on tight, and move forward.

The reward is great.

Dig A Little Deeper

There's a story about the California gold rush that tells of two brothers who sold all they had and went prospecting for gold. They discovered a vein of the shing ore, staked a claim, and proceeded to get down to the serious business of getting the gold ore out of the mine.

All went well at first, but then a strange thing happened. The brothers continued to pick away, but without success. Finallly, they gave up in disgust. They sold their equipment and claim rights for a few hundred dollars, and took the train back home.

Now the man who bought the claim hired an engineer to examine the rock strata of the mine. The engineer advised him to continue digging in the same spot where the former owners had left off. And three feet deeper, the new owner struck gold! A little more persistence and the two brothers would have been millionaires themselves.

There's gold in you, too! Do you need to dig three feet farther?
