Have you ever used a pressure cooker to can or “put up” vegetables or fruits from a garden? Through a specific heating process, the contents are sealed and preserved for storage and safety. Go too long, though, and things will explode if not managed properly in this process.
Some people live their lives in a daily pressure cooker. For those people, it is just a matter of time before the mess explodes all over the place. Our lesson today is one that teaches us to manage life in such a manner that it greatly minimizes the chance of a creating a yucky mess all over the place.
Share this with a friend. Pass it along to a co-worker. I am quite positive they will thank you for it later.
On another note, I want to remind you that there are 55 episodes on Prairie Beacon Radio on our website for your listening benefit. These powerful and life changing episodes that have been heard by hundreds of thousands of people all over the planet are found at www.prairiebeaconradio.com

Seeds of Success: Live In Day-Tight Compartments
By Robert A. Prentice
There are times when life seems, to me, to be one gigantic pressure cooker. The regrets of the past over all the should'ves, would'ves, and could'ves, together with the fear and dread of the future with all its obstacles and challenges looming ahead, cause me to feel the mounting pressure. It is at this point that I remind myself that the most effective thing I can do is to live in "day-tight compartments".
Let me explain it like this. Say you have a Kerr Jar, fresh-filled with summer's harvest, which you plan to consume at a later date. In order for the freshness and goodness of the food to be preserved for any length of time, the jar much be sealed tight or its contents will spoil. It's like that with life, too. When I feel like I am starting to lose control in my day-to-day activities, if I am going to preserve the goodness, I must seal today into its very own compartmentseparate from both the yesterdays which are gone, and the tomorrows which aren't here yet.
I recognize that, I cannot do anything about the past except learn from it. I know I can do nothing for the future but plan and prepare for it, and the best way to do that is to focus all my intelligence, all my enthusiasm, all my energy, and all my efforts on today. I need to live in the nowthis present moment of timeand do my best to turn the negatives into positive. Instead of allowing the circumstances of life to spoil my day, I must choose to control my attitude in the midst of the circumstances. I focus on what I can do, not on what I cannot do. It is amazing what happens when I choose to live one day at a time.
Go ahead and take ownership of this principle and begin applying it in your life today.
The "Second" Ten Commandments
I. Thou shall not worry, for worry is the most unproductive of all human activities.
II. Thou shall not be fearful, for most of the things we fear never come to pass.
III. Thou shall not cross bridges before you come to them, for no one yet has succeeded in accomplishing this.
IV. Thou shall face each problem as it comes. You can only handle one at a time anyway.
V. Thou shall not take problems to bed with you, for they make very poor bedfellows.
VI. Thou shall not borrow other people's problems. They can better care for them than you can.
VII. Thou shall not try to relive yesterday for good or ill; it is forever gone. Concentrate on what is happening in your life and be happy now!
VIII. Thou shall be a good listener, for only when you listen do you hear ideas different from your own. It is hard to learn something new when you are talking, and some people do know more than you do.
IX. Thou shall not become "bogged down" by frustration, for 90% of it is rooted in self-pity and will only interfere with positive action.
X. Thou shall count thy blessings, never overlooking the small ones, for a lot of small blessings add up to big ones.
