From the Desk of Bob

For a variety of reasons I have had a couple of really tough weeks, and I must admit I have really struggled with my attitude! My dear wife has been so faithful and encouraging to me in this slump. She has been there to remind me of what I share with others to help them adjust and shift. This stuff really works!!! I have shifted most of my negative attitudes and I am seeing things from a much better perspective now.

I share this with you because, even though my wife and I publish this weekly motivation for you, we do not put ourselves above anyone. We have said it before, and we'll keep on saying it: We have not arrived! We are just two people learning and growing–together with all of you–along this journey we call life. It is our desire to be as honest and real with you all as we possibly can be in all of our communications.

Life often throws down challenges that make our days and weeks difficult, but with each other and the right success tools we can–and will–triumph over those negative attitudes.

Seeds of Success: Surround Yourself With Awesome People

In the early days of my career, I heard a man speak at a business function and much of what he said really has stuck with me all these years. This man spoke about how the ultimate outcomes we will experience in business and in life depend on the kind of people we have surrounding us. In other words, when you surround yourself with bright, intelligent people, who are honest and sincere, ultimately integrity will run deep in your business. When you choose associates who are kind, and helpful, teamwork happens naturally. When you communicate with others who talk positively and with enthusiasm their zest for life spills over into your world. When you choose to “hang” with positive people, positive things will result in your life.

Since then, I have determined to surround myself with awesome people. I am fortunate to be surrounded by wonderful family members who enjoy working, learning, and playing together. In business, I have always attempted to surround myself with associates who augment and support my personal philosophies. In business and in life I know where my weaknesses are and I specifically find people to help me where I struggle.

As I think back to some of those awesome people, I am reminded of Susan, who came into my business and worked along side me for a time, many years ago. Susan was and is an intelligent and friendly woman of integrity–a real doer, who believes in self-improvement and loves planning. I always admired Susan’s ability to solve problems, and am amazed by the sales and human relations skills she possesses. Susan was a real asset to my company who literally added tons of awesomeness to my life and business. Susan was a blessing! She and I were an incredible team; wherever I was weak, she was strong. I am glad to say Susan and I are still good friends, and even after all these years, I can still see the profound impact and influence Susan had on both my business and my life.

Even if we had all week, I could not begin to tell you how many other awesome people have come into my life that, like Susan, have helped shape me and my business for the better. I am a blessed man to be surrounded by so many awesome people that have taught me so much.

I urge you to take time this week to think about the ultimate outcomes you desire for your business and your life. Then begin to surround yourself with quality people, seeking to proactively form alliances with others who share your goals, dreams, and visions–awesome people who are willing share in the success of the journey.

These People

These people are performance oriented;

They work without grumbling and complaint,

Take risks, think for themselves,

Can solve challenges,

And love to sell and serve.

These people are creative and innovative;

They offer ideas for improvement,

Come to work in a timely manner,

Are accountable for doing their best;

Do what they are asked, encouraged or directed to do

While trusting in their leaders.

These people are assets to our families, businesses, and communities–

And the remaining are liabilities.
