From the Desk of Bob

Dealing with rejection is really tough. Picking yourself up by the "boot straps" when you get knocked down is very difficult but possible. Overcoming adveristy and stresses in everyday life and taking negatives and turning them into positives is required for ultimate success. The golden thread through it all is our attitude.

I have always said 99.9% of everything in life is our attitude. What does your attitude speak about you? Are you working everyday at having a proper mental attitude about the things in life that you are facing? I know this is something I must do from the moment I wake up each day.

To your success! Bob

Life Attitudes

Don’t say you don’t have enough time. You have exactly the same number of hours per day that were given to Helen Keller, Pasteur, Michaelangelo, Mother Teresa, Leonardo da Vinci, Thomas Jefferson, and Albert Einstein.”
~H. Jackson Brown~

"Each of us has a bank account of time, into which a deposit is made and withdrawals are taken. No matter how depleted that account was at the end of yesterday, today it is chock-full of moments to cherish, memories to make, and minute after minute to spend wisely or not.”
~Michael Rawls~

"Guard well your spare moments. They are like uncut diamonds. Discard them and their value will never be known. Improve them and they will become the brightest gems in a useful life.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson~

Seeds of Success: Where Is Time Going?

By Robert A. Prentice

Do you ever wonder if maybe time isn’t speeding up? I mean, it just seems to fly by so quickly! Seems like every month practically ends before it’s even got started! We know we should be taking more time to savor the many individual moments that make up our lives. We want to spent quality time enjoying the company of our friends and family and to be able to pause long enough, every once in awhile, just to refresh ourselves without feeling guilty. We want to really get the most out of life. But one day turns into the next and then the next, and we just wonder, “Where is the time going?”

Makes one wish you could just stop the clock for a while and take a break from time. But alas, we cannot stop the clock! However, we can get in step with the concepts of time. We can plan the use of our time more effectively. We can make time for what is most important to us if we will simply make a conscious decision to stop wasting our precious time.

If we want to have more time to do the things we really want to do, we must learn to identify those things that tend to be “time-thieves” in our lives–complaining, procrastinating, gossiping, watching television, being disorganized–just to name a few. These things, and others, really do rob us of valuable time that could be put to better use.

Where is time going? The real question should be, “What are you going to do differently today, than you did yesterday, to maximize your life and limited time on this planet?”

Think about what your highest priorities are and determine what time wasters you are going to give the boot. Don’t just think about it, though. Take action now!

We may have just twenty-four fast-paced hours in each day that add up to 365 days speeding by every year, and that is enough–that is, if we do it right!

Slow Dance

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round, Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground? Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight, Or gazed at the sun into the fading night? You better slow down. Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day on the fly; When you ask, “How are you?” do you hear the reply? When the day is done, do you lie in your bed With the next hundred chores running through your head? You better slow down. Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last.

Ever told your child, “We’ll do it tomorrow,” And in your hast, not see his sorrow? Ever lost touch, let a good friendship die, ‘Cause you never had time to call and say “Hi”? You better slow down. Don’t dance so fast. Time is short. The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere, You miss half the fun of getting there, When you worry and hurry through your day, It is like an unopened gift, thrown away. Life is not a race. Do take it slower. Hear the music before the song is over.

Lose This Day Loitering

Lose this day loitering, ‘twill be the same story

Tomorrow and the next more dilatory;

Each indecision brings its own delays,

And days are lost lamenting o’er lost days,

Are you in earnest? Seize this very minute

Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Only engage, and then the mind grows heated

Begin it, and then the work will be completed!

~Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749-1832)
