From the Desk of Bob

Ever wondered what is happening with what I have written about in the past couple of years? Here’s an update on Bob’s world in 2006.

RE: Bobs weight loss plan–I have more energy and am feeling better than ever. I have gone from drinking one or two cans of pop per day to a can per week and am now drinking three times the water I used to. I am taking smaller portions and fewer second helpings. Over all, I am eating much healthier–less junk food and more fruits and vegetables.

RE: Bobs Book Project–It’s a big project, something we have never attempted to do before, and we are slowly, but surely, making our way through the process of formatting and editing. We will keep you posted.

RE: Prairie Beacon Radio–With 48 episodes uploaded to the site and 180,000 downloads and listeners to date, we are humbly gratified.

RE: Monday Morning Motivations–More than 500 people just like you are subscribers and the list keeps growing. Wow!

RE: Prairie Beacon–We’re still hanging in there at between 1600 and 1800 copies being distributed each month. Since daughter Tasha decided to try her wings at a new enterprise, Vicki and I have taken over the ad sales and customer service, and we are seeing Elie is grow into a fantastic delivery girl. Speaking of Elie, we just celebrated the one-year anniversary of her coming to live with us as our child. What a joy and pleasure it has been.

Of course we couldn't do it without you! Here's to your SUCCESS! Bob

Seeds of Success: There's No Growth Without Change!

By Robert A. Prentice

Have you started a new hobby lately? Stretching your wings a bit every now and then is a good idea. Consider researching something that interests you and toy with it a bit to discover all kinds of wonderful things about yourself and something new about the world around you.

I have a new hobby this year–candle making. In years past I have developed interests in solar energy, gardening, landscaping, inventing, hunting, bird watching, traveling, ice cream making, jerky making, root beer making, writing, and speaking, to name a few.

In my life strategy I have written that I want to always have some activity that I enjoy to keep me busy and productive in my free time. I have a lot of free time and I don’t want to waste any of it. Have you ever noticed how good you feel when you are doing things that you enjoy?

Now you may be saying, that’s fine for you, but I don’t have as much time as you do for a hobby. Well, I say you must make the time. I know I have plenty of time when I don’t allow myself to indulge too much in the habit of watching television and make the conscious decision instead to get myself involved in something more productive. It’s just a matter of changing priorities, and making some new habits.

Sure our old ways feel comfortable and cozy like an old pair of slippers, but it’s time to make a change. Remember that every change involves a loss of some kind and to experience the new, you have to let go of the old. There is no growth without change, there is no change without fear or loss, and there is no loss without pain.

Well, I am going to go play now at my candle-making hobby. I hope you are motivated to experience all the richness of life by getting yourself a new hobby. There is so much to gain, with just a tad bit of pain. Do not let the pain of change hold you back from the joys that are so easily attainable.
