From the Desk of Bob
Last week, we started off the new year with a discussion on change, and how it isn’t easy, but it’s good for us and I encouraged you to allow new information to cause change in your life. This week, we are digging deeper into this subject of change. fact, we will be talking about change all month long.
We have decided to make the same topic the focus of all of our publicationsMonday Morning Motivations, Prairie Beacon and Prairie Beacon Radiofor an entire month before moving on to another topic. We believe this will allow us to go deeper into various subjects, and will give our readers more “meat” to chew on.
After focusing on “change” for the month of January, we are planning to focus on “customer service in February.
Looking forward to the changes ahead! Bob

Seeds of Success: Opportunity In Change
By Robert A. Prentice
I must admit that sometimes I am not one to easily make and embrace change. One area I had been dragging my feet in was hiring some help in our business. My “we can do it ourselves” attitude was starting to cause my wife and me to feel pretty overloaded. You see, for many years, our three oldest children were a tremendous help to us in business. But now that they are all grown and have moved on to other things, and with our youngest years away from being able to take on the all the jobs vacated by her older siblings, we have found ourselves nearly at our wits end.
Once my dear wife finally was able to help me come to the life-changing conclusion that we needed more help, and I actually found someone to hire, we both felt as though a ton of bricks had been lifted off our shoulders
Of course, this change is necessitating some different operating procedures, and the adjustments are not always easy, but I am confident that in the end the benefits of this change will, by far, outnumber any of the challenges. (Hey, my wife is happier, so that makes me happier! This is definitely a change for the better!)
Change always seems to trigger more changeit’s that old “snowball” effectbut change almost always opens up new opportunities for us if we are alert and open to them. Hiring someone to help me in the business has opened up all kinds of business opportunities for me, as well as a new friendship. What if I had continued to resist change in my business? I am so glad that I don’t have to find out.
What about you? Is there an area of your life where you have been resisting change? I hope these strategies will assist you making the necessary change in your life:
• Determine to stop resisting change now.
• Learn to view change as a good and positive thing that has the potential to present you with new and exciting opportunities.
• Accept the fact that change often leads to more change, and that change is almost always accompanied by challenges.
• Remember the benefits of change often far out-weigh the challenges!
• Hang in there! Change always takes a little time for you and others to get used to, but be encouragedyou CAN do it!
Do not let your fears or any negative attitudes hold you back from the incredible opportunities ahead.
